The Sound Of Silence
P. Simon, 1964 Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turn my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never shared No one dared Disturb the sound of silence "Fools," said I, "you do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sound of silence Model: ~cmulcahy Taken at the school for the feeble minded on a trip with `khavi, ~1andonlyamelia, this other guy, and me. it looks like a painting.. fantastic.
something maybe hanging in the parlour in one of poes poems.. -- Horribly intrusive watermarks are tacky. If you're concerned about people stealing your photos, don't post them on the internet. Photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event. (HCB) That is absolutely amazing, I'm not really knowledgable enough about photography to really critique, but the setting, the colours, everything offsets this photo with such an authentic feel.
-- The other day, in the park, I was wondering why frisbees got bigger and bigger as they got closer to you... And then it hit me. ooh... I love this one. it's silence... and it's hollow... but it seems to echo and resonate... because of the piano image and the space behind her. it's as if she is starting to play... and is playing... and has just finished playing... all at once. a true suspended moment in time. it all works!
Cassie + pianos + you = very fantastic things. oh matty b.
this one is just...brilliant. the textures, colors, emotions just beautiful. When i look at this photo I actually hear a piano..this distinct low, slow introduction to a song (i can't think of the name, but its a classical peice, when i remember the name I'll let you know). This is my favourtie photo out of the feeble minded series. well done matty b. well done! -- -kate krakow <img src="http://pr.one-down.com/banners/banner1.jpg " border="0" /> |
