Is it possible to be true to a moment... a moment of edginess and sexiness... but without conveying dirtyness or unwholesomeness?
This was a captured moment in my living room. It was posed, but based upon a very recent spontaneous moment. Becca, the subject, is a very pure girl - both of body and mind.
Yet... I caught a moment of unhidden edge. A true emotive capture. I am reminded of Richard Kern... yet there is no explicit nudity. In fact, I think this is myspace friendly.
So... the question is... in my exposing the edge... does the look in her eyes make you lose respect for her?
"lose respect for her" -- as in define her as a slut?
no not at all.
her expression is very captivating. really draws the attention i didnt even realize those were panties until you mentioned it.
and i know that feeling. the hold that moment shot. sometimes i wish i had melted the camera strap to my neck so i would never let go of it. but im not doing that. and so i miss those types of shots. and its sad.
when i get old im getting this: [link]
but by then the moments i would have liked to shoot will be gone. what to do...
this is smart and a ok. it's like a shot that you can put in a pg13 movie i think or one of those r18 movies that don't have that much nudity, just an elaborate story to tell (kindda like japanese art films for cannes).
it is suggestive yet for some reason,it is not visually obscene. kindda like a pic you'd see on the advice section of a cosmopolitan magazine.
mature, clean, marketable and media safe. that's how i see it.
I think a picture cannot be disrespectful as long as the person in the picture does not look as if she was being treated disrespectfully. Some might think being photographed without panties is disrespectful behaviour. Well, I think being photographed without panties and retaining ones self esteem, which is clearly visible here, is kind of powerful, isn't it.
I think she looks like shes living the moment - to be honest, I didn't even notice her underwear in hand, I was too caught up in her gaze. It does bring sexual appeal, but not in a discouraging way.
What Tindermann said. There are people who'd look at that picture, note it wasn't an explicit girl/girl shot with liberal use of oil and toys, and yawn. There are people who'd look at it, shriek "OMG that tart is NAAAAKED," wonder what kind of filthmonger you are, and hit the roof. (My own take is that it might be Myspace "legal," but a model holding her own panties isn't precisely Myspace "friendly.")
To the first group, you haven't come any closer to the edge than you would had you photographed a bowl of fruit; to the second, you'd be way over. It's entirely subjective, and so the people you shouldn't really be asking are us -- it's yourself and Becca.
I think, a picture can't tell you anything but its concept. The subject could be posing or doing something that you might think is a good concept, but when you're done and walk away, the subject could be doing a something different from what you were thinking. Great pic by the way.
No respect lost at all! I find this a very engaging, candid image even knowing it was set up. I love the look on her face, and the questions posed by the panties-in-hand coupled with that look.
Great image!
